Privacy
This page covers accounts and the demo: what each records, and why.
Accounts
What an account records
- Which version of the app you were on when you last signed in, and when.
- Errors, slow page loads and logging.
- Anything you send through Help > Feedback.
- Information kept until account deletion. Reach out through Help > Feedback for more.
What it doesn't keep
- Your password in readable form. It's stored scrambled so no one can read it.
- Your internet (IP) address, except that the app's logs note an address that fails to sign in 10 times within 15 minutes.
Why
To keep the app working: to find slow pages and failed lookups, and to know whether anyone is still on an old version when a change depends on it.
Cookies and other services
One cookie keeps you signed in, for 30 days. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Show and movie details come from TMDb and OMDb. The app asks them about titles and never sends your username. When the Wikipedia setting is on (it is by default), what you type into search is also sent to Wikipedia to catch misspelled titles; Settings can turn it off. Some pictures load directly from other services: posters from TMDb, trailer thumbnails from YouTube, and a placeholder image when a title has none. Those services see your internet address, as any site you load something from does.

The demo
What a demo visit records
- Roughly where you are: city, region and country, and the network you're on, including its company name and type and whether it's a VPN, proxy, Tor, data centre or mobile network. This is looked up once, when the demo starts.
- Whether you're on a phone or a computer.
- How you got here: the link you followed, or the site that sent you if your browser said.
- Which pages and tabs you opened, roughly how long each was on screen, and how many times you did things like marking an episode or adding a title. It records the kind of page, not which show or movie was on it.
- Whether you clicked to sign up, and whether you did.
- Any errors or slow pages you ran into. Slow pages, errors and failed requests to the services the app gets its data from are also kept in the app's diagnostics, under the demo's account name (such as demo-0014); a failed request names the title it was for.
- Any notes you leave, with a name or contact details only if you give them.
- The record of a visit is kept after the demo ends.
What it doesn't keep
- Your internet (IP) address. It is sent once to ipapi.is, a location lookup service, to find the place and network above, and this app does not store it, except that the app's logs note an address that fails to sign in 10 times within 15 minutes.
- Your library, watch history and settings. They are deleted with your copy when the demo ends.
Why
To understand how the demo is used: who visits, how they found it, and what they try.
Cookies and other services
The demo uses one cookie, to keep you in your demo. It usually ends when you close your browser, though a browser that reopens your last session can keep it. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Some pictures load directly from other services, as they do for every account: posters from TMDb, trailer thumbnails from YouTube, and a placeholder image when a title has none. An admin demo's System Design page also loads its diagram tool from jsDelivr. Those services see your internet address, as any site you load something from does. None of them is sent anything from the record above.
